# Review the transcript

The transcript is a flowing text block. During playback, the active caption segment is highlighted according to your characters-per-caption setting.

Click a word to move the Premiere playhead and start playback from that point. Playback continues beyond that word.

A faint **|** replaces a space where the caption will break onto another line. It is a preview marker, not text added to the caption.

## Edit text

Double-click to open the small text editor. The caption text is selected by default. Type your correction and press **Enter** to save and resume playback.

The nearby **Emphasize** control marks the chosen word for styles that support emphasis. See [Emphasis](/docs/reference/emphasis).

Changes to the number of words can make an edit incompatible with the original word timings when captions are re-grouped. Export a copy before substantial rewrites, and review the result after changing grouping.
